My Book, EYE IN THE BLUE BOX, Is Finally OUT!

It’s July 13, 2025 as I write this. But if you’re reading this, it means that it’s currently August 30, 2025. It means that my book is officially out and available for immediate purchase. 

As is usually the case whenever I experience something momentous, I feel a strange sense of calm. There are spikes of overjoyed excitement bordering on panic that manage to break through for a few seconds, but maybe it’s because my emotions are rising in waves that could very well cause an internal tsunami that survival mode is kicking in and demanding that I return to and remain in a state of calm right now. 

By now, I will have released a series of blog posts on how to write, and hopefully, that series has given you at least a small sense of how hard I’ve worked on my beloved books. Despite everything from trolls to lack of time and resources to life emergencies to my own self-deprecatory and self-defeating thoughts, despite all the things that could have ground my creative efforts to a standstill, I somehow made it all the way here. My book is no longer an abstract concept. It does not exist simply in my private files, digital and intangible. It’s out in the world now. It’s ready to complete its final mission: to interact with as many friends, family, and strangers as possible.

Tomorrow, you’ll receive a blog post on why, exactly, I decided to write EYE IN THE BLUE BOX the way that I did. But for now, I simply want to enjoy, savor, and more than anything, celebrate this moment. The strange thing about hard work is that despite how excruciating it can be, it’s the only thing that can yield real progress. Of course, I’m referring to not only the progress you make with the actual project itself but also the progress you make as a human being. 

I have undeniable proof now that I am capable of withstanding and ignoring malicious comments and focusing on what I choose to focus on. I am capable of pursuing my dreams even as I endure physically and emotionally painful experiences, including losing my children. I don’t make my full-time job an excuse, and I do make time to chase my goals, even if it’s a slow chase that is limited to one or two steps a day. Because of the ups and downs and difficulty of this journey, I know with even more clarity what kind of person I really am, and I can say with confidence that I am a strong, hard-working woman whom my children in heaven can be proud of.

That’s one of the greatest things about art, you guys, and I suppose this is the perfect way to wrap up my How to Write series for now. Creating something of your own forces you to exercise all the skills and characteristics that compose a person worth knowing and being. From vulnerability and bravery to endurance to independent thinking, creating art squeezes the best out of you and demands that you stretch and strengthen it all and become someone worthy in order to create something worthy. 

I know without a shred of doubt that I have created something extremely worthy. This book is a reflection of my past, my present, and even my future. It’s proof that I’ve chosen to live and live well, even when so many trials could have stopped me. 

I hope you give my book a chance. As daunting as it is, I want to share this part of myself with you. And in sharing, I hope my book can entertain, comfort, and teach my readers, just as greater works of art by greater artists have entertained, comforted, and taught me throughout life.
